About My Coaching Practice
In case you got here for group work, but aren't sure about it and may want to get to know me one on one before you venture into some unknown group sh*t (relatable!) ...here is an overview.

Experts always tell coaches + therapists we have to find a "niche" ... that we have to have our One Specific Thing that we specialize in. My thing is helping humans human better. (Yes, I am using human as a verb!) I love working with anyone who wants to show up more authentically, communicate more honestly, and live more vulnerably in your relationships. My practice is called Roots & Keys Coaching and my office is attached to the group space.

And the best part? Unlike a more traditional therapist, I can see you every week or twice a year- whatever works best for you is what I want to do- and still have the same level of investment in your happiness. You never "lose your spot" because I practice in such a way that folks can just come and go; the relationship we develop becomes a touchstone you can come back to when you need it. I sincerely love my clients and am deeply invested in your wellbeing. And my group sessions reflect the amazing range of humans I tend to attract!
(Also- side note- if you're concerned about credentials and expertise because "life coach" sounds unserious, I fully understand. I have an MSW from Wash U ('05) and I've been a licensed clinical social worker since 2011 and am licensed in MO + IL; I am just not practicing as a traditional therapist as of 2021. Coaching is better for me because my style is directive, solution-focused, and practical ...and I have authority issues. The limitations: I'm not doing diagnoses, med management, trauma treatment, or active mental illness treatment. If coaching isn't a fit, I'll refer you to one of our amazing local therapists!)

I will say more below about specific human profiles + concerns that interest me, but honestly, if YOU feel drawn to working with me...it's probably going to be a good fit. Trust your gut! Book sessions below; check me out on the socials below if you'd like! (I'm old so I'm more active on FB)
Human Things I particularly love to work with...
💙Cis/het men aged 18-88- I love when a man wants to explore his thoughts and feelings in a safe space (not just with his primary partner, who can't and shouldn't provide all the things for him.) Men always report feeling comfortable with me; my style is direct in a way that works well for them.

🧡Perimenopausal women- I love the unfolding of the "I no longer have to GAF about any of this" era in women, which is often a time they're ready to set + enforce boundaries, stop people-pleasing, reclaim (or claim for the first time) sexual pleasure, and step into their power.

💙ENM/poly couples - I love helping people navigate their boundaries and agreements and deal with jealousy in a healthy way. (Really, I love all nontraditional relationship dynamics! I'm very queer/trans/nonbinary/kink/BDSM/etc friendly)

🧡Premarital work- I love helping couples figure out early the stuff that will cause them problems later in their marriage (especially if/once you add kids!)

💙Interracial relationships- There are unique challenges to dating/marrying across cultures, and I love helping couples navigate these. I am married to a Black man and we have a young Black daughter, so this is something I regularly work on myself. If it's a cultural context I am not familiar with, I am ok with being in a learning mode during our sessions as well.

🧡Young adults- I love working with older teens and young adults and being a trusted adult in their lives (that they might listen to since I'm A mom but not THEIR mom)
💙Boomers + adult GenX/millenial children - I love helping them understand each other's very different communication styles and cultural attitudes. There are huge generational divides here that we often feel but can't name, but they form a pattern of connection that doesn't always feel great, despite deep parent/child love.

💙🧡ANY + ALL RELATIONSHIPS that would benefit from my eye for patterns, skill in communication + conflict/repair, mediation training, etc etc. I fundamentally believe that relationships should be, if not easy, at least "Easyish" (shameless plug: I wrote a book about this!)

FUN FACT: I am introverted and HATE talking on the phone. Literally I will avoid making appointments if I can't just do it myself online. I want that for you too! I use an app called Calendly for all 1:1 and relationship sessions, as well as group stuff, workshops, discounts + session sales, packages...it is all right there in one place. Feel free to email or text me with specific questions.
